The goal was to create a dining set for a hypothetical NYC restaurant that reflects the culture of Tibet. A key consideration was to introducing Tibetan culture to the average New Yorker without undermining key values associated with such a unique, remote, and religion-oriented society. As an outsider, it can be easy to overlook important aspects of a foreign culture, so proper due diligence is critical. It was critical that the dinnerware reflect the culture without insult. No easy task.
